I’m back!! Here’s a recently finished commission project. This one goes to a museum owner in upstate NY. The design is based on a Galileo drawing from 1634 after he visited the cathedral at Pisa, IT. Long story shortened, Galileo’s pendulum ideas originated in Pisa. This is my second attempt at a Galileo Clock. The first is my daughter’s wedding gift. This one is made with Italian Olive woods (gears and details) and Brazilian Walnut with hints of ebony, holly and Paduak. The brass parts are all hand cut using a scroll saw! Yes, it’s doable even with a 25TPI blade (many of them!). As in all of my projects, I hand rub with tung oil and cover with wax.
