I’m back . . . with another clock! This one is a version (adaptation) of a 17th Century clock made from a drawing left by Galileo (in Pisa, Italy) to his son. His son attempted and failed to build his father’s clock and it wasn’t until the 19th century that a working model was eventually created (see Porcellottii). Like my last clock M-10, this one is a post wedding gift to my daughter who married in April 2015 . . . yes it takes that long to design and build. It’s made with East Indian Rose wood Maple, Pakauk, Ebony, Poplar (legs) and brass. The bob is fashioned from an old Waterford perfume bottle and contains sand from the beach at Islamorada (Key West, Florida) where she married. Finished with lacquer on the legs and hand rubbed tung oil followed by BrixWax (the best!). Weights are 15 lbs a piece, heavy because the escapement is inefficient by 21st century standards, and run time on a single wind is 24 hours.
